Asadoras Argentina Burgers serves up juicy meals

I’m not typically one for burgers. The meat isn’t ever cooked the way I like, and it’s generally a miss. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I loved Asadoras Argentina Burgers in Oswego.

Located in a strip mall at the intersection of Route 71 and Washington Street, Asadoras is a family-run business that brought a family friend’s restaurant concept to Oswego, all the way from Argentina.

The small space is decorated with simple, rustic accessories that felt very cozy. When my guest and I arrived, there was a slight wait, but the incredibly polite and helpful woman behind the counter made the wait enjoyable. While we waited, my guest and I took a look at the menu, filled with a mix of toppings for burgers, as well as traditional sandwiches and meals – including a vegetarian sandwich offering.

I chose to order a Temptation burger, made with barbecue sauce, caramelized onions and bacon, along with a side of curly wedge fries coated in cheese and bacon.

My guest, more of a traditional burger fan, chose the aptly-named Classic burger, with a slice of cheese and without tomato and onion. She chose a side of plain wedge fries.

We sat down to chat before our meals were brought to us. Here I have to again praise the woman who was running the counter; she ran food out to customers, chatted up everybody and made the wait for our meal go by very fast.

Our meals were delivered in to-go boxes, which I thought was a great choice. We chose to sit in and eat, and I’m glad we chose to wait.

Both of our burgers were hot and juicy, cooked perfectly medium/medium-rare, and our fries were properly hot and crispy.

My burger, coated with barbecue sauce, thick strips of bacon and a pile of onions, was juicy and drippy without being greasy – exactly the way a burger should be. It was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a really long time. The side of wedge fries was cooked perfectly, coated with melted cheese and crumbles of bacon – a great, filling side.

My guest, as I said, was a fan of more traditional-style burgers, and was equally pleased as I was with her burger, which she said was also juicy, and cooked perfectly. She’s also a big fan of wedge fries, and ate her whole serving in minutes.

She also remarked on the size of the burger, which wasn’t too small or overwhelmingly big. A bit bigger than palm size, it was the right size to be filling, without leaving any leftovers.

At first glance, another burger joint seems like one too many, given the number of franchises in the area. But the unique toppings, the friendly and welcoming service, the family basis and the international concept have made Asadoras Argentina Burgers an instant hit in Oswego I’d be more than happy to return to.
