This fall-themed afternoon tea will offer a variety of drinks featuring hints of seasonal flavor. Guests can expect a variety of pumpkin, cinnamon and gingerbread flavored teas in addition to delectable savory tea sandwiches. Scratch-made scones will be served with Devonshire Cream & jam spreads, along with house-made sweet mini-desserts. This event promises to inspire some good conversation between family, friends and new acquaintances. The Tea will be held inside the vintage room at Lock 16, starting at 2 p.m. Located just a short drive to the west from Utica, this charming building serves as the headquarters of the I and M Canal National Heritage Area. Exhibits in the visitors center offer terrific insight into the history, and lasting impact, of the I and M Canal. A massive map table shows how the manmade waterway wound from Chicago to La Salle, a true engineering marvel of its day, while the beautiful 8-by-40-foot wrapping mural depicts how significant the canal was to the Illinois economy, and day-to-day life, in the mid- to late-1800s.
