Women's college tennis: McHenry County College sweeps Elgin

The McHenry County College women's tennis team beat Elgin, 9-0, Thursday in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference action in Elgin to remain undefeated at 6-0.

Kyleigh Kessler (Crystal Lake Central) and Gabbi Barnvos (Huntley) won at No. 1 doubles for the Scots. Merritt Whiteside (Huntley) and Faith Vela (Woodstock North) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

Elgin forfeited six of nine matches. MCC (6-0, 3-0) hosts College of Lake County at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the Racket Club in a winner-take-all dual for the ISCC championship. The Scots have not won a conference title in 17 years.
