Halloween at Lyons Farm offers historic twist to the holiday

The fall season is filled with enticing images of pumpkins, apples, and friendly ghosts. It’s

becoming one of the most anticipated times of the year for family-friendly fun before old man winter sets in. Halloween events and celebrations set the stage for a variety of popular spook-tacular things to do in Kendall County.

What could be more enticing and enjoyable than spending the day on a historic farm surrounded by nature that’s also filled with surprises and popular old-school games and events? Enjoy the outdoors plus learn and see many local treasures.

Take a special visit to Halloween On the Farm on October 20 and 27 at the historic Lyon Farm on Route 71 in Yorkville from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Children under 2 are free and general admission is $4.00 person (cash only). The farm is only open to the public during special events.

This annual Halloween playtime is filled with old-fashioned games and much more. Kids are encouraged to dress up and wear their favorite costumes for trick or treating and join the costume parade to win a prize.

Walk the grounds and visit the buildings of historic interest, climb tractors, and see the many antique trucks and tractors on display. Enjoy a hayride that takes adventurers through a haunted barn. The experience beckons attendees to find out more about this special place.

Local history buffs will enjoy the atmosphere, landmarks, and historic sites of Lyon Farm, the home, pride, and joy of the Kendall County Historical Society.

Lyon Farm itself, is steeped in the area’s rich history; a crown jewel of Kendall County. It’s a unique place of preservation that helps connect the past to current and future generations through experiencing and understanding the lifestyles, traditions, and farming practices of days gone by.

The Lyon Farm is located east of Yorkville, Illinois on Illinois Route 71 between Yorkville and Oswego, and highway signs direct visitors to the site.
