Big Rock Plowing Match showcases ag heritage

The 125th Big Rock Plowing Match and fall festival will feature all the traditional events everyone looks forward to. The event will run Friday through Sunday at Plowman’s Park, 48W508 Hinckley Road in Big Rock.

This event showcases our agricultural heritage in a two-day plowing competition. Additionally, visitors will find an assortment of activities, such as an English & Western Horse Show at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, the 4-H Beef show at 1 p.m. Sunday and a bags tournament from 1 to 4 pm. Sunday.

The Big Rock Fire Department and Plowing Match Association will co-sponsor a beer tent from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. On the entertainment stage, The Wooden Rockers will perform from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Kylee & Wild Bill will play from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Other activities throughout the weekend include a petting zoo, craft show, bingo, round-bale roll-off, kids games, prince and princess contest, exhibits in the Junior and Ladies Fair buildings, bake sale auctions and more.

Food also is available. This weekend festival is family-friendly and filled with fun activities for all ages.
