Woman damaged 2 cars, carved gay slur, police say

SYCAMORE – Police said a Rochelle woman carved a slur and phone number into two vehicles Thursday in DeKalb and was then charged with several offenses.

Ahlam Abdallah, 35, of the 400 block of south Seventh Street, was charged with domestic battery, criminal damage to property, resisting a police officer, driving with a suspended license and child endangerment after an incident at 3:10 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of West Hillcrest Drive, according to court documents.

If convicted of the most serious charges, Abdallah could face up to three years in prison.

Police say Abdallah parked a 2007 Hyundai Sonata in front of a 2008 Chrysler minivan on Hillcrest, then carved a phone number into the hood of the van, stabbed the hood and broke the passenger side mirror with her hands, according to court documents. The victim of the vandalism owned both vehicles, according to court documents.

The owner said he then saw that curse words and a homosexual slur were carved into the Sonata, as well, according to court documents.

Police said in court records that Abdallah then kicked the driver’s side mirror of the minivan while holding her 18-month-old child before walking to a nearby 7-Eleven store.

Once there, police said Abdallah refused commands from police officers to put down the child, and police physically took the child from her. She then spit on the victim and kicked over several displays inside the store, according to court documents.

Judge Phillip Montgomery ordered Abdallah released on her signature Friday and that she be placed on pretrial supervision and have no contact with the victim.
She is next due in court at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 19.
