Police: Homer Glen man arrested again after making threats to deputies

A Homer Glen man who threatened a 64-year-old relative while holding a machete landed back in jail after threatening Will County Sheriff’s deputies, police said.

About 10 p.m. Monday, deputies went to a residence in the 14500 block of South Coachmans Lane in Homer Glen after receiving a report of a man who was not wanted there, sheriff’s spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said in an email.

When the deputies arrived, they spoke with the father of Christopher Mroz, 34, who was in the front yard waiting for the deputies after noticing his son was “not acting normal,” Hoffmeyer said.

Mroz was arrested and jailed after he attacked a 64-year-old relative, grabbed a machete and threatened to attack him further on July 27, police said.

Mroz was released from jail July 29 after posting 10% of his $35,000 bond.

Mroz’s father told deputies on Monday that he wanted his son out of his house because they have had issues involving violence in the past, Hoffmeyer said.

Deputies went inside the residence and asked Mroz to take a seat at the top of the stairs so they could talk to him, Hoffmeyer said.

Mroz then became upset, Hoffmeyer said.

He aggressively walked down the stairs toward the deputies and refused to comply with deputies’ commands to take a seat and stop, she said.

Hoffmeyer said Mroz began “threatening the deputies verbally and physically while continuing moving toward them.”

Mroz struggled with the deputies before he was arrested, Hoffmeyer said.
