Freedom Elementary leader is new principal in Plainfield school

Freedom Elementary School Assistant Principal William Stockey is serving as the principal at Eagle Pointe Elementary School in Plainfield.

The Plainfield School District 202 Board approved Stockey’s new assignment at its regular meeting May 28. Stockey replaces Laura Weed, who recently was named District 202’s first director of digital learning and innovation.

Stockey started his education career in 2003 as a special education teacher at the Aurora Education Center in North Aurora. He came to District 202 in 2004, serving as a special education teacher at Heritage Grove Middle School. He taught both social studies and science at Heritage from 2007 to 2012 before being named assistant principal at Freedom in 2013.
