Letter: Supporting my ex-husband, Jim Cosler

To the Editor:

My name is Amy Cosler and Jim Cosler is my ex-husband, but more importantly he is my friend and the father of our two amazing daughters. I have known Jim for 36 years and, over this time, I have come to know his incredible character. Jim has listened to the people of Cary and has worked tirelessly to bring good and justice to our town, doing so with attention to reasonable spending and high integrity. Jim doesn’t shy away from a challenge.

Here are some other important details about Jim’s characterfor which you may be less familiar. We co-parent our girls with a united front. Jim has fixed things when they break in my home and we even share our dog Jack! Jim is a skilled craftsman and he volunteered for more than nine years to provide repair and maintenance at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy, where both of our girls attended school.

Jim is a pilot for American Airlines. In his career, he worked his way up from a flight instructor, to a regional pilot, to a captain, then we suffered a heartbreaking furlough after Sept. 11, then he returned after years of hard work. Jim has run two Chicago marathons and many local fundraising events. These are just a few examples of Jim’s heart and character, which benefit us in Cary for the pursuitof a growing and safe community.

It would be easy for me to continue hide out in unincorporated Cary and not get involved, as I am not as brave as Jim. As I now see a few in our town try to defame Jim’s character, I can’t sit in silence any longer. I strongly recommend Jim Cosler for re-election as a Cary trustee.

Amy Cosler
