New nail salon coming to Algonquin

Establishment expected to open sometime in April

Algonquin soon will be home to a new nail salon.

Coco Nail Bar is set to open next month at 234 S. Randall Road.

"I want to expand my business," said owner Tina Hoang of Gilberts. Hoang, 28, owns Regal Nails Salon and Spa in Rolling Meadows and plans to open a third salon in Hoffman Estates in the coming months.

"I'm excited," Hoang said, adding that she's been in the beauty business for 11 years. "I like to do this."

She plans to offer pedicures, waxes, eyelashes treatments and nail polishing at the Algonquin site. The business name was inspired by fashion designer Coco Chanel, Hoang said.

The opening date has not been determined, but Hoang said she already has eight employees. The establishment will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Hoang said customers have started to seek out pedicures and manicures with organic gels instead of acrylic nails. Pink remains the most popular color, she added.

Her salon sits next to MOD Super Fast Pizza, which opened late last year at 228 S. Randall Road.

"Every new business that comes to the village is great. It provides services to the residents and generates interest in the village," Village President John Schmitt said. "It's great for any new business that starts in town. Like in any community, we have some vacant storefronts, and getting them filled is great."

Schmitt said the village has worked over the past decade to encourage developers to build more high-end apartments to cater to young people. He said nail salons and restaurants help attract younger people to the area.

"We've got a lot to offer and a very diverse demographic," he said.
