Judge reduces bond for Sycamore man who allegedly bit, choked woman during sex

SYCAMORE – A DeKalb County judge ruled that bond for a man accused of biting and choking his girlfriend during sex be reduced to $1,000 to get out of jail, which his attorney said he can do.

Ryan T. DeCoster, 24, of the 1100 block of Arneita Street, has been charged with aggravated domestic battery and, if convicted, could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison.

The victim told police about 1:30 a.m. Sunday that DeCoster had bitten her while they were having sex, which had started out consensual, but when she told him she didn’t want to have sex anymore, he choked her to the point she couldn’t breathe, court records show.

DeCoster told police he and his girlfriend regularly had “rough sex,” and while he admitted he bit her too hard this time, he was drunk and didn’t remember whether he’d choked her.

Judge William Brady ruled that once $1,000 bail is posted for DeCoster’s release, he be placed on electronic home monitoring. DeCoster’s attorney, Kristofer Piereth, also asked that the order from Tuesday made by Judge Philip Montgomery that he have no contact with the victim be lifted. The victim has been in court for both of his hearings. Brady agreed to lift the order.

DeCoster is due back in court at

1:30 p.m. March 29, at which point his plea is expected.
