Marian Central Football Families,
This is Tom Kruse, Head JV coach here at Marian Central. I wanted to drop you all a line stating that first and foremost, I am doing everything I can, within my means, to encourage your boys to continue to get in the weightroom, even though there is no head coach hired. I have had a couple of junior boys in, and gave them a list of all players from last years' program who are not in a winter sport, to encourage them to get to the weightroom as well.
For the record, I have applied to become the next head coach here at Marian Central. Given what I know about our administration here, I am doubtful that I'll get the chance to become the head coach, but regardless of my status, I am an alum, a captain of our last state championship team, and someone who has nothing but the best interest in your sons in mind when it comes to their experience here at Marian Central, including their football experience, as that same experience has helped shaped my life, going back 30 years.
In my opinion, our 'interim superintendent' does not feel that the head football coaching position is an important position here at Marian Central, and given that he has not had any meaningful conversations about the position with our Athletic Director, Coach Price, solidifies my opinion. It is now January 10, and 3 months have gone by without even a single form of communication regarding the football position. My fear is that the administration will not put any effort or meaningful thought into who should lead this program, and will hire someone 'who falls in line with what the administration wants' (a puppet, if you will). I feel as though our students deserve much much more, and the 'interim superintendent' needs to be pressed on this issue. Unfortunately, the internal emails and questions fall on deaf ears, and rarely, if ever, do we even get a response when asking about the football situation.
I do, however, believe that if the parents of our players press the administration, I have to hope that your voices will be heard, and something will be put in motion. As I tell the students, there is more power in numbers, so I'd encourage each of you to give Vito Defrisco a call, or send an email, or both, stating that we ALL deserve to get the ball rolling to hire a fooball coach at Marian Central. It's too important to not address, and we've already wasted 3 + months of the most important time for our kids to get stronger and faster.
I appreciate your time, and again, regardless of who is named the head coach, I think we ALL deserve more than what we have been given from the powers at be, and I believe it's way overdue that the ball is put in motion.
Thank you all,
Tom Kruse
