Plainfield student organizes crochet club for his school

Lincoln Elementary School fourth-grader Reid Roberts recently organized a crochet club at Lincoln Elementary School in Plainfield.

The club has about 22 students and is sponsored by fourth grade teacher Lynette Dattomo.

The club meets weekly in her classroom. Roberts' aunt taught him how to crochet late last year. Crocheting is easy and relaxing, and that's why he wanted to teach his classmates to do it, Roberts said. He presented the idea to Principal Casey Hartman.

Roberts also had to buy supplies such as yarn and needles to get the club going. The club began meeting Jan. 29.
