Judith L. “Judy” Schmitt

STREATOR — Judith L. “Judy” Schmitt, 74, of Streator, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore. Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Burial will be held at a later date in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Leonore. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Born Oct. 20, 1944, in Spring Valley, she was the daughter of Earl and Marie (Schorn) Schmitt.

She is survived by her sisters, Marilyn (Don) Lechner, of Streator, Diane (Robert) Ainsley, of Foley, Ala., and Mary Ann (Jim Lawless) Peterson, of Wenona; a brother, Earl (Mary) Schmitt, of Ottawa; many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Karen Burcar; and brothers, Raymond and Terry Schmitt.

Raised in the Leonore area she attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School and graduated from Lostant High School.

She worked through the years for Berlin Packaging until her retirement. She had also worked at Polish National Alliance for many years.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore and St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
