Debra A. Fulkerson

ROCK FALLS – Debra Ann Fulkerson, known by most as “Mama Deb”, age 65, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in Florida.

Debra was born on May 1, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama, the daughter of Newton and Maude (Smith) Merchant. She married Lloyd Fulkerson, Jr. on March 12, 1970, in Clinton, IA. She enjoyed cooking, reading, vacationing, going to the beach, spending time with her grandchildren and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, especially the Rock Falls Rockets and Kansas City Royals. She was a member of Abiding Word Church in Sterling.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd; two daughters, Jennifer (Jody) Junis and Jada Fulkerson, both of Rock Falls; one son, Jordan (Lexis) Fulkerson of Englewood, FL; her mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Fulkerson of Sterling; four grandchildren, Jakob (Brianne) Junis, Noah Junis, Graci Maude Junis and Mila Fulkerson; two great-grandchildren, Jones and Penelope Junis; one brother, Charles (Cathy) Merchant of AL; three sisters, Eudelle (Duane) Turner, Calliree (Wendil) Carney and Frances (Wendal) Louis, all of AL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, William Cooley.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Abiding Word Church in Sterling. Funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Scott Porter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abiding Word Church or OSF Health Care Children’s Hospital in Peoria in her memory.
