Frankfort VFW fundraiser set for Wednesday

The Frankfort VFW Post 1493 is holding a fundraiser this Wednesday in an effort to keep its doors open.

The new leadership at the Frankfort VFW has been trying to achieve financial security for the last several months.

Cmdr. Stan Tylinski, a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, began his tenure leading the VFW in July and realized it had serious financial problems.

"When I took over in July, we owed everybody everything," he said. "We don't exactly know what happened."

To help stabilize the VFW, Tylinski and his crew have hosted fundraisers, including this upcoming one titled "Save the Post" from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at CD & ME in Frankfort.

Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event for $10. There will be entertainment provided by Bernie Glim and Country Roads. Aurelio's Pizza will provide food for a small charge. There will also be a cash bar.

CD & ME is located at 23320 S. La Grange Road in Frankfort.
