STREATOR — Tricia A. Horaney, 43, of Streator, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, at her residence in Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator. The Rev. Father Ryan Mattingly will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Streator.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, C.J. Elliott, Tyler Elliott, Chaz Weygand and Jake Horaney; brothers-in-law, Jeff and Jon Horaney; and Bill Cooper and Bill Olson.
Born Aug. 12, 1975, in Ottawa, she was the daughter of late Charles C. Weygand Sr. and James and Linda (McLaughlin) Pool. She married Emmett M. Horaney on April 17, 2004, at St. Stephen’s Church.
She is survived by her husband, Emmett M. Horaney, of Streator; a son, Emmett James Horaney, of Streator; her mother, Linda (Jim) Pool, of Streator; a brother, Charles “Chuck” (Susie) Weygand Jr., of Ottawa; a sister, Lynn Elliott, of Marseilles; a stepsister, Shelly Ball, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepbrother, James (Kim) Pool, of Phoenix, Ariz.; mother- and father-in-law, Emmett and Florence “Flossie” Horaney, of Streator; brothers-in-law, Jeff (Chauntel) Horaney, of Grove City, Ohio, and Jon (Julie) Horaney, of Streator; several nieces and nephews survive including very special nephews, C.J. (Kailynn) Elliott, Tyler (Josh Lyn Wyatt) Elliott, Chaz (Katie Starkey) Weygand and a great-nephew, Braxton Weygand, who all loved and had a very special relationship with their Aunt TT.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Weygand Sr.; maternal grandparents, Hiram and Sarah McLaughlin; paternal grandparents, Charles and Doris Weygand; and paternal stepgrandparents, James and Loyce Pool.
Born and raised in Ottawa, she attended Ottawa grade schools and graduated from Ottawa High School in the Class of 1993. While at Ottawa High School, she was a three-sport athlete for all four years competing in volleyball, basketball and track and field. In 1993 she earned the state title in the shot put. She was inducted into Ottawa Township Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
Following high school she accepted a scholarship to the University of Illinois for track and field. She graduated from U of I with a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1997.
She started her career as a case manager for El Paso Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and later worked as a social services director for Heritage Health. She worked in outreach and crisis management for Youth Services Bureau before spending 10 years as a clinical supervisor for the state of Illinois. She became social services director at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation before accepting her current position in social services for Livingston County Health Department.
She was of the Catholic faith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a scholarship fund to be established for her son, Emmett.
