Mistwood renames Bolingbrook golf dome, installs new tech

Mistwood Golf Dome, formally known as McQ’s, recently installed new technology from Toptracer.

The Bolingbrook golf dome can claim the first installation in the country for this transformative entertainment technology at an indoor golf dome facility, according to a news release.

The Toptracer Range technology shows the flight path of the golf ball with valuable shot data, such as distance, ball speed, launch angle, height and more.

“We are extremely excited to bring the Toptracer technology to the Mistwood Golf Dome, transforming our indoor dome driving range experience to a fun and virtual environment that will precisely track players’ shots as if they were outside and provide fun gaming applications for both golfers and nongolfers,” Mistwood General Manager Dan Bradley said

The dome opened under its new name, Mistwood Golf Dome, at the start of this winter season. The dome has been under the umbrella of Mistwood Golf Club and owner Jim McWethy since 2012, the release said.

“We have created one of the strongest golf brands in Chicago with all of our recent upgrades, renovations and awards with Mistwood Golf Club,” Bradley said. “Since acquiring McQ’s and having been operating it under our Mistwood umbrella, it only made sense to change the name and continue providing the same high-level golf experience our customers expect at a Mistwood facility.”

The 60,000-square-foot facility has been transformed into an innovative and dynamic golf range center, which also includes casual lounge seating, TVs and food and beverage service via the attached McWethy’s Sports Bar, an entertainment venue featuring a variety of fine fare including award-winning wings and over 30 craft beers.

At Mistwood Golf Dome, players of all skill levels will be able to compete against friends and family in fun skill games and also play virtual golf on simulated courses, including Pebble Beach and other iconic layouts, with players from around the world who are live in approximately 500 bays at other golf facilities.

“This is the first of its kind in Chicago as well as the country for an indoor dome, and we look forward to bringing this innovation and fun entertainment experience for the next generation of golfers, as well as attract new players to the game,” Bradley said.
