Why Ramos was selected: The Lockport senior wrestler enjoyed a very successful week in which he beat two others who are top-ranked like himself, including a defending state champ and state runner-up from last season.
Herald-News sports writer Curt Herron talked with Ramos.
Herron: What do you like the most about wrestling?
Ramos: Wrestling teaches a person how to be disciplined in the sport, keeping your body in shape and it makes them better as a person overall both in out of school.
Herron: What do you like most about your team?
Ramos: This year's team is very special to me because I get to help them and they get to help me to become a better person and a better wrestler.
Herron: What do you like best about competing for Lockport?
Ramos: The opportunities that we have with all of my teammates and the coaching staff. Not many teams have coaches who can wrestle with every single weight. So you grow exponentially because of the coaches and your partners.
Herron: Who's your favorite athlete?
Ramos: Frank Chamizo since I like the way he wrestles.
Herron: What's your favorite class in school?
Ramos: Anatomy since it's very interesting learning about different parts of the body and how it works.
Herron: What would you like to do in the future?
Ramos: My goal is to get into dentistry.
Herron: Do you have any pets?
Ramos: I have a Goldendoodle named Jazze and a cockapoo named Skillet.
Herron: What do you like to do in your free time?
Ramos: Hang out with my friends or just get outside,
Herron: What's your favorite music and your favorite artist?
Ramos: Rap and Kanye West.
Herron: What's your favorite TV shows?
Ramos: Cartoon Network.
Herron: Where's the best place that you've been and where would you like to visit?
Ramos: Croatia. I'd like to visit the Phillip pines since that's where my dad is from.
