Lily Lake Grade School closed after teacher dies in traffic collision

KANE COUNTY- A Lily Lake Grade School physical education teacher was killed in a traffic crash on Nov. 29 on Route 64 east of Prairie Street near Elburn.

According to a Kane County Sheriff's news release, Michael Cessna, 61, of Sycamore, was traveling east around 9 a.m. when his Chevrolet Silverado crossed the center line and was struck by a westbound semi-truck driven by John Lantz, 54, of Rockford. Police do not know why the Chevrolet crossed the center line.

Cessna was the sole occupant of the Chevrolet and was pronounced dead at the scene. Lantz was taken to Delnor Hospital with non-life-threatning injuries. No citations were issued.
