Each year, the county board battles to create a balanced budget. What actions can the board take to minimize the tax burden on residents while not sacrificing services?
It would be good to keep the tax rate stable. Analyze what departments could be combined to give the same services. Watch the new hires to make sure they are needed. Check with various departments to see what projects are being planned and how many people are needed to complete such projects.
Grundy County has become a favorite target for solar farm companies setting up shop on local farm land. What impact do you think these green energy facilities will have and do you see it as a net gain or loss for the county?
Right now solar farms are good for the economy. Green energy is good for the economy right now. Solar farms can always revert back to regular farmland at a later date. I see the farms as a net gain for the county right now.
Expansion from the Chicago metro area is creeping towards Grundy County. Do you think this could be good or bad for the county? What actions should the county take to either encourage the growth or help stave it off?
I see the influx of Chicago metro as a bad influence. Grundy County does not need this influence. Rules and policies need to be monitored. Laws need to be set at a maximum. This influx should not be encouraged.
What projects within the county would you like to see addressed during your term, should you be elected?
Basically, I think roads and bridges need to be checked to make sure they are kept safe and sound for public and personal transportation. Run a check on departments to see how smoothly things are being run and where budget concerns are and if budgets are being kept in line.
