Oct. 14 is Fusion Beauty & Barber showcase in Bolingbrook

Fusion Beauty & Barber showcase will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 205 Remington Blvd. in Bolingbrook.

Luv’Le Style Salon is hosting the showcase.

LeAnn Drake a licensed cosmetologist/educator and business owner of Luv’Le Style Salon, said the classes and competitions are for licensed professional and students in school.

Competitors are prejudged on seven to eight models and will be give eight to 10 minutes of stage presence, according to the event page at www.eventbrite.com.

"My desire has always been to bring together licensed and future professionals to evolve within the beauty industry," Drake said in an email.

Other features include networking and vendors.

The public is invited to see their work and learn about the latest upcoming trends of styling and barbering. People age 12 and up may attend.

Drake said she began her hairshows in October 2009 with the participation of stylist and barbers of 20 and an audience participation of 250 to 300 people.

Three shows later – the Oct. 14 event is Drake's fourth show – the event features a stylist barber participation of 50-plus and audience of 500 to 600 people.

"Now, I have added educational classes along with showcasing of styling and barbering skills to the show based on my desire to mentor, inspire and educate," Drake said in an email.

In an email, Drake said she plans to host the showcase every year. In October 2019, she will expand it to a two-day event and move it to a larger venue. She will also offer more educational classes and showcase an artist.

Luv’Le Style Salon is located at 24507 W Eames St. in Channahon.

Services, according to its Facebook page, include traditional sewn-in, single full color, shampoo and style and relaxer.
