Lake in the Hills will put a cap on the season with its annual Summer Sunset Festival beginning at 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road.
Festival chairman Ray Bogdanowski said there will be more than
15 food vendors in addition to activities such as a carnival, parade, Sunset Fun Zone – where kids can participate in various crafts and projects – a classic and custom car show, bingo, talent show, bags tournament and wine tasting. Admission and parking are free.
Unlimited ride wristbands at the carnival are available for $25 and are good from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Bogdanowski said people still can sign up for the bags tournament, which is $40 for a two-person team. The first-place team wins $240, while the second-place team wins $120, third place wins $90 and fourth gets $30.
The wine tasting, which has been held on Saturday and Sunday in the past, will be from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Friday this year, Bogdanowski said.
Friday’s musical performances will be RadioHouse from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Boy Band Review from 9 to 10:30 p.m.
Saturday will feature Dick Diamond and the Dusters from 3:30 to
5 p.m., Tres Moustache from 6:30 to
8 p.m. and 7th Heaven from 9 to
10:30 p.m.
Closing out the festival Sunday will be Catfight from 3 to 4:30 p.m., The Party Doctors from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Red Woody from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
Lake in the Hills police are increasing their presence to enforce drunken driving and drug- and alcohol-related traffic offenses during the weekend as part of the Saturation Saturday initiative.
