During a ceremony in April at the McHenry Country Club, Riverwalk Foundation President John Smith thanked the Cunat family for contributing a total $1 million with a final donation of $370,000 toward the Riverwalk bridge.
With this final donation from the Cunat family, the McHenry Riverwalk development is poised to move forward with the completion of its second phase along the Fox River. A final phase will be completed later along Boone Creek.
At a special ceremony expressing gratitude to the Cunat family, Smith received the final check.
The Riverwalk bridge spanning Boone Creek is the focal point for the Riverwalk connecting the south side of the Riverwalk with Miller Point to the north. The bridge and the Riverwalk it spans also is an economic driver for the Riverside Drive and Green Street sections of McHenry’s downtown.
Cunat Inc. was founded in 1976 and is based on the belief that everyone should have a high-quality place to call home. For more than 42 years, the Cunat team has been dedicated to making this a reality for its residents and customers.
The Cunat family also has been involved in making the McHenry area a better place to live through its donations and service to the community.
