Gov. Bruce Rauner on Tuesday announced that the state will spend $34.3 million to reconstruct the Interstate 80 interchange at U.S. 30 in New Lenox.
The state also plans spend $20 million to reroute Route 126 in Plainfield as part of an extension of 143rd Street.
The projects were among 23 that will receive $241 million in state investment of federal dollars. The reconstruction of the I-80 interchange will be designed to increase capacity.
The governor announced the projects in East St. Louis at the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis intermodal facility, which will receive $1.93 million.
