The annual Taste of Joliet event, happening June 22-24, will feature 27 local vendors and a variety of entertainers at the ATI Field in Joliet Memorial Stadium.
The event begins at noon each day, remaining open until midnight Friday and Saturday. Unlike previous years, the event remains open until 8 p.m. Sunday.
Food vendors include some local favorites, such as TCBY and Cemeno's, as well as some year-round vendors. There will be a couple of new vendors this year, including Jerrie's Dogs and doughnut shop Decadent Flavor. A full list of vendors can be found on the Taste of Joliet website.
Australian singer Rick Springfield, most known for his song “Jessie’s Girl,” will perform on the main stage at 9:30 p.m. Friday. Brothers Osborne, an American country music duo, will take the main stage at 9 p.m. Saturday. Then, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Mexican musical group Los Angeles de Charly will perform on the main stage.
General admission for Friday and Saturday is $11 in advance and $16 on the day. For a reserved front section spot on those nights, patrons will pay $47.50. From noon to 3 p.m. Friday, general admission is free.
General admission for Sunday is $5 in advance and $10 on the day. A front section reserved ticket is $20.
Children 11 and under accompanied by an adult receive free admission all weekend. Seniors over 62 receive $5 tickets all weekend.
To buy tickets ahead of time online, there is a $3 service fee. Tickets can be bought online at the Taste of Joliet website.
Smoking will not be allowed at the event. People cannot bring umbrellas, weapons or outside food and beverages into the event.
Attendees also cannot bring chairs or seats into the event due to a poking hazard to the artificial turf, said Donna Gale, a Joliet Park District employee.
Free parking will be available on Jefferson Street, Infantry Drive and Mission Boulevard.
“It’s probably Joliet’s biggest summer party,” Gale said. “There’s also that opportunity to run into people that you grew up with and just really catch up and reignite old friendships.”
