Teenager struck by car in Batavia

15-year-old male taken to hospital

BATAVIA – Members of the Batavia Police Department and Batavia Fire Department as well as medics were dispatched to a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia, at approximately 7:16 a.m. May 23, according to a news release from the city of Batavia.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 15-year-old male was crossing West Wilson street from north to south when he was struck in the eastbound traffic lane by a vehicle heading east, according to the release.

The vehicle was driven by a 29-year-old Elburn resident, the release stated.

The 15-year-old was transported from the scene to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva for medical treatment, the release stated. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The release stated that as of May 23, the investigation is ongoing and no citations or criminal charges have been filed.
