Binny's Beverage Depot to replace HHGregg near the mall in Joliet

Joliet is getting a Binny's

Binny’s Beverage Depot is coming to Joliet.

The liquor superstore is taking the vacant HHGregg store near the Louis Joliet Mall, said Steve Jones, the city’s economic development director.

Binny’s could not be reached to confirm its plans.

Jones said a builder has applied for permits to redevelop the former HHGregg store into a Binny’s, although city officials do not know when it will open.

The arrival of Binny’s has been anticipated for some time, he said.

“We heard rumors the last couple of years they were looking for space up and down Plainfield Road,” Jones said.

Binny’s coming to town would be a welcome change from store closings that have occurred in the mall area, where Toys R Us and Carson’s currently are having going-out-of-business sales.

HHGregg closed a year ago as that retailer went out of business. Toys R Us and Carson's also are closing all stores.
