A 17-year-old girl received several traffic citations after she drove through a Joliet storefront Wednesday morning.
Police responded about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to Supermercado Casa Blanca, 500 Collins St. in Joliet, for a report of a vehicle striking a building, Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.
A 17-year-old girl told police she was driving a 2005 Toyota pickup truck north on Collins Street when she lost control of the car and struck the building. The girl was not injured.
The car was inside the building, Gregory said.
She told police she did not know how the crash occurred. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions, not having a valid driver’s license and not having insurance. City inspectors checked the building’s structure, but police did not have information on the extent of the damage.
