STEM Team from A. Vito Martinez Middle School emerge victorious

ROMEOVILLE – The STEM Team from A. Vito Martinez Middle School emerged victorious at the 2018 VVSD STEMCathlon held at Romeoville High School.

The Vikings produced winners in four of the six events.

Team members are: Caitlin Almocera, Aiden Barrett, Aleine Betouni, Natalie Chvoy, Lauren Dichoso, Juan Garcia, Alexandra Kaliszyk, Jazmin Lopez, Julian Mani, Laila Morales, Alicja Noga, Arelly Serrano, Sarina Silva, Alecia Verdin, Cameron White, and Jacob Zamora. Coaches Ms. Martha Zoglauer and Ms. Ann Cook

The VVSD Middle School STEMCathlon is a test of creativity, ingenuity, and the ability to adjust on the fly while the clock is ticking. After the six events the STEM team from A. Vito Martinez Middle School stood as the 2018 Champions for besting their VVSD Middle School peers.

The individual event winners are as follows:

• WIBI (Write It, Build It) – Anders Ball, Humphrey and Malaiyah-Mone Wright, Jane Addams.

• Towers – Laila Morales, AVM.

• Egg Drop – Alexandra Kaliszyk, AVM.

• Penny Boats – Ryan Foster, Brooks and Ethan Remedios, Brooks.

• Catapult – Aiden Barrett, Cameron White, and Jacob Zamora, AVM; Emma Chacon and Stephanie Sanchez, Humphrey; Katrina Gates and Malaiyah-Mone Wright, Jane Addams.

• Laser Team – AVM.
