OHIO – Richard L. Mueller, 72, of Ohio, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

Richard was born May 18, 1945 in Princeton, the son of Martin and Mildred (Norden) Mueller, and graduated from high school in Ohio.

Richard farmed, and owned and operated Mueller Machinery Mart in Walnut for many years. He was a member of Ohio Lutheran Church, where he served as a past church council president for many years and also participated in the living Last Supper presentation. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, was very involved in their lives and enjoyed the time he spent with them.

Richard was married to Teresa (Malone) Mueller, and they had three children: Melanie Bloomquist of Bourbonnais, Megan Mueller of Bradley, and Jared Mueller of Kankakee; and three grandchildren.

He married Carole L. Sanderson on September 2, 1989 in Geneseo. She preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2015. He had three stepsons: Mark (Traci) Leslie of Hartland, Wisconsin, Lance (Jennifer) Leslie of Bettendorf, Iowa and Brett (Heather) Leslie of Keller, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. and the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ohio Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gene Vincent is officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Ohio. Arrangements have been completed by the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ohio Lutheran Church.
