Slim Chickens to bring southern cooking to Plainfield in April

PLAINFIELD – Slim Chickens, a restaurant specializing in fresh, southern-style chicken tenders and wings cooked to order, is opening up its newest location April 2 in Plainfield.

They offer their hand-breaded chicken with their signature sauces, also made with fresh ingredients.

“We’re trying to bring that southern hospitality up north,” general manager Sean Ufen said.

Ufen said one of his personal favorite dishes is their chicken and waffles with butter and syrup, which he said is one of Slim Chickens’ fan favorites. They also have their signature “Jar Desserts” with treats such as brownie pudding in a Mason jar.

Slim Chickens first opened in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 2003 and now has expanded to more than 60 locations in 11 states, with more to come in the northern part of the country in the next year. There are three other locations in Illinois in Champaign, East Peoria and Bloomington.

The Plainfield restaurant will be located at 13429 South Route 59. To learn more, visit slimchickens.com.
