Wonder Lake woman accused of pawning $60K in stolen jewelry was alleged victim's caregiver

Rolex watch and gold bracelet pawned at McHenry shop

McHENRY – A Wonder Lake woman accused of pawning thousands of dollars' worth of stolen jewelry had been providing the alleged victim in-home health care, police said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office’s criminal investigations unit recovered more than $60,000 worth of stolen jewelry from a local shop before arresting 27-year-old Nicole Grizely, Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers said in an email.

Police are holding the jewelry as evidence, Rogers said.

According to a complaint filed in McHenry County court, Grizely, of the 3300 block of Pleasure Avenue, stole a Rolex wristwatch and gold rope bracelet and pawned the items at a McHenry shop.

At the time of the theft, Grizely was the alleged victim’s in-home health care provider, Rogers said. It was not clear whether Grizely was working for a professional in-home care service.

Grizely posted bond and was released Thursday from the McHenry County Jail, jail records show. She is due in court March 12.
