Two people hurt in rural Sterling crash
STERLING – A Rock Falls man had to be extricated from his vehicle after a two-vehicle crash on Moline and Matznick roads, about 6 miles southwest of Rock Falls.
Danielle Lawson, 42, of Prophetstown was westbound on Moline Road around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in a 2015 Chrysler 200 when she collided with an eastbound 2009 Nissan Versa driven by Horacio C. Arellano, 50, according to the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.
Sterling firefighters extricated Arellano from his vehicle, and he and Lawson were taken to CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Both were treated and released and Lawson was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage.
Orion woman hurt in Sunday rollover
MORRISON – An Orion woman was injured Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover at state Route 78 and Wayne Road, about 3 miles south or Morrison.
A Jeep Compass driven by Tiffany D. Smith, 28, was southbound on Route 78 about 9:42 a.m. when she failed to take a curve and went into the ditch before the vehicle rolled over in a field, according to the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.
She was taken to Morrison Community Hospital, where her condition was unavailable Sunday. Two juveniles in the vehicle were not injured. Smith was charged with improper lane usage.
