Rayjus Outdoors co-owner Ray Odom was placed on indefinite leave from his own Morris outdoors apparel company Tuesday night after an episode of CNBC’s “The Profit” aired.
In the episode, Odom admitted to playing a “racist, sexist” persona on 100.7 WRXQ-FM Coal City. Alpha Media fired him from that job earlier in the day Tuesday.
In the episode, host and Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis walks out on Rayjus without offering the company a deal after hearing Odom admit to his prejudiced radio act.
In response, Odom said that his comments had been taken out of context.
“Everybody has a different sense of what is funny and not funny,” Odom said of his jokes on the radio.
“Unfortunately, we cannot allow these statements to go unchecked,” a statement on Rayjus’ Facebook page read. “While an integral part of our organization, Ray will be taking a leave of absence to spend time with his family and reflect on what is in the best interest of his family and company.”
