DOWNERS GROVE – A Downers Grove business owner was the victim of a glitter bomb Oct. 11 when she opened a spring-loaded package in her office, according to a police report.
The woman told police she received a package Oct. 10 at her office in the 1100 block of 31st Street but did not open it until the following day. When she did, glitter exploded in her face, causing a skin reaction, the report stated.
The return address on the tube-shaped package was "Posters R Us," according to the report. The package contained a message that said, "You have been glitter bombed," and directed her to the website of the company Ruin Days, which sells the glitter bombs, the report stated.
The website promotes “ruining your enemy's day” by sending glitter bombs and other inconvenient items. A disguised spring-loaded glitter bomb costs $23.99.
The woman said an ex-employee may have sent her the glitter bomb, but she did not want to provide police with details on the individual, the report stated.
