GENEVA – Geneva Commons is home to a new bakery franchise, Nothing Bundt Cakes, at 1086 Commons Drive, selling – as its name implies – cakes baked with a hole in the middle.
Manager Jill Beard said the bakery opened Sept. 20 and is already doing gangbusters business.
“We are so excited to be in the community,” Beard said. “We are having a good reception here. They are keeping us busy – and that is a good problem to have.”
The bakery’s specialty is it only bakes bundt cakes – in 10 flavors and four sizes, she said.
The top four flavors are chocolate chocolate chip, red velvet, white chocolate raspberry and lemon, she said.
The store also offers a pecan praline cake, but for those with nut allergies, the rest of its cakes are safe, Beard said.
“We carry one gluten-free option as well, and we are selling them like crazy,” Beard said.
The smallest is a cupcake size called a bundtini, sold in packages of 12; the next is an individual size called a bundtlet, suitable for one or two people, she said.
They also make 8-inch and 10-inch cakes, she said.
“And we always carry a seasonal flavor as well, depending on which season it is,” Beard said.
The store also offers 40 occasion packages for decorated cakes and retail items from cards to plates, glassware, mugs and decorations, she said.
“When we think of a bundt cake, we think of a denser, drier cake,” Beard said. “Ours are the total opposite. Ours are the moistest, best cakes you will eat in your life. It’s the best cake ever. It does not have to be refrigerated. It can sit on the counter for three to five days and be just as moist and tasty.”
The bakery will have a ribbon-cutting at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 10 with the Geneva and St. Charles chambers of commerce.
“We’ve gotten so much response from both communities, and they are so close, we joined both chambers,” Beard said. “We like to get involved in the communities.”
The store will have a booth at the St. Charles Scarecrow Festival Oct. 6 to 8, she said, where they will be selling bundtlets.
This is the fourth Nothing Bundt Cakes that franchisees Todd and Ashley Davies of Aurora, have opened, Beard said.
“The owners have four children and they’ve been coming over here for quite some time to play soccer,” Beard said. “They love the area, and they love the community.”
