Former bartenders take over PatiO's Irish Pub

PatiO’s Irish Pub’s owners may be new, but the Dixon couple is more than familiar with the bar and its clientele.

Becky Sofolo, 28, and Jesse Noyes, 29, both were bartenders for the bar’s prior owners, “and we thought it would be foolish not to take advantage of this opportunity, to buy the pub,” Noyes said.

Sofolo, a Faith Christian High School graduate, and Noyes, who graduated from Rock Falls High School, bought PatiO’s from Stew and Elaine Bruns, owner of the Shamrock Pub, and Ed and Nancy Miller.

PatiO’s opened under the new ownership Sept. 11.

“Business has been very good so far,” Noyes said. “The support we have received from our customers and the community has been pretty amazing. Everyone has been excited for us.”

Sofolo worked at the bar for 3 years, back when it was First Street Pub; Noyes has worked there since PatiO’s opened in 2015.

They’d spend time there even on their days off.

“I enjoy hanging out and talking to the customers and meeting new people,” Sofolo said.

Plans call for live music on the weekends, as well as karaoke, a DJ, and maybe a bar crawl in the future.

PatiO’s is known for its Patio Punch, house shots and rum buckets. Bags and Patioball, a customer favorite, are played on the patio, and there are video gambling machines and TVs inside the bar and outside on the patio.

“We are definitely looking forward to growing our business and having more entertainment,” Sofolo said.

“Anyone over 21 is our demographic, and we want to offer something for everyone,” Noyes added.
