LAKE GENEVA, Wis – Christine A. Novak, 40, of Lake Geneva, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
The former Christine Ann Kelby was born Dec. 22, 1976, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, the daughter of James and Carolyn (Shem) Kelby. She graduated from Faith Christian High School in Grand Detour. On Aug. 8, 1998, in Grand Detour, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Joseph L. Novak.
In her teens, she was deeply involved in mission work with “Youth with a Mission,” traveling several times to Mexico and Romania, and continued that love for mission work and travel throughout her life. She enjoyed being active outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, and boating Lake Geneva. She enjoyed music, especially worship music. Her love and her life was her family, spending countless hours home-schooling, cooking, raising animals, gardening, and just experiencing life in countless ways. She was a wonderful friend, and was gracious and kind to everyone who was blessed to meet her. The impact of her life was widespread, and she will be remembered with love by many.
Christine is survived by her husband, Joe; seven children, Jordan, Elijah, Micah, Elizabeth, Timothy, Evelyn, and Justin, all at home; her father, James (Shelly) Kelby of Griffith, Indiana; her stepfather, Tim Dunn of Lake Geneva; a brother, James Kelby of Lake Geneva; four sisters, Jennifer (Joel) Kimball of Ahmeek, Michigan, Katherine (Patrick) McIntosh of Lowell, Indiana, Jamie (Doug) Brincks of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Jennalee Stewart of Demotte, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Dunn.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, with the funeral at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Zion Christian Church in Lake Geneva. Pastor Dave Adams will officiate. Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva is handling arrangements.
