• Someone tried to pass a $20 counterfeit bill at the Shell station at 108 N. Batavia Ave., Batavia, according to an Aug. 3 police report.

• Roadway signs were defaced with vulgar writing, according to Aug. 3 reports of an incident at Jefferson and Morton streets and one in the 1000 block of South Jefferson Street, Batavia.

• Items valued at about $220 were reported stolen from Walgreens, 122 W. Wilson St., Batavia, according to an Aug. 3 police report that noted the person left on foot.

• Battery was reported early the morning of Aug. 4 at First and Jefferson streets, Batavia, according to a police report stating a person was struck on the back of the head, and that there was no description of the assailants who took off on foot.

• Jeffrey A. Holmen, 33 of the 400 block of Illinois Avenue, Aurora, was arrested Aug. 4 in the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia, on three warrants, which were issued by the Batavia Police Department, Aurora Police Department and Kane County Sheriff's Office.

• Andrew S. Aasen, 32, of the 500 block of Park Street, Batavia, was arrested Aug. 5 on a Batavia Police Department warrant for a charge of criminal trespass to a building.

• Sharon A. Mosley, 64, of the 200 block of Lincolnway Street, North Aurora, was charged Aug. 7 with retail theft greater than $300 at Walmart, 801 N. Randall Road, Batavia.

• Zachary G. Geery, 36, of the 400 block of Illinois Avenue, Batavia, was charged Aug. 7 with criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct in the 100 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia.
