The crimes of DeKalb County's most wanted

SYCAMORE – Factoring in how long they’ve been pursued and the severity of their alleged crimes, 10 men have been pegged as the county’s most wanted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Roger Scott said he’d like to have a list at all times on the office’s website, but the county hasn’t done so historically. Sheriff’s Detective Jeremy Grubbs sifted through the county’s 4,000-plus warrants to form this list. Warrants vary. For petty crimes, the county only is notified if the offender is picked up in that county, or in a neighboring one. Warrants also can be designated to be valid throughout the state and, for the most serious offenses, throughout the nation.

These 10 men fit that last category, and anyone with information on any of the individuals are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 815-895-2155, call Crime Stoppers at 815-895-3272 or email crimestoppers@dekalbcounty.org.

Valdemar D. Colin

Colin, 52, was charged Sept. 4, 1997, nearly 20 years ago, with unlawful possession of more than 10 pounds of marijuana with intent to deliver, as well as possession of less than an ounce of cocaine, court records show.

If authorities ever apprehend Colin, he will be held on $1 million bond, according to the warrant for his arrest. The warrant lists Colin’s last known address as the 4300 block of Altura Avenue in El Paso, Texas.

A warrant for his arrest lists Douglas’ address in the 100 block of Lithia Avenue in Webster Groves, Missouri, although the sheriff’s office reported he was last living somewhere in Illinois.

The bond on his warrant, issued July 18, 2013, is $1 million. Douglas was never arrested, and authorities have no photo available of him.

Ivan E. Gaitan-Rodriguez

Gaitan-Rodriguez, 36, is wanted on a $1 million warrant for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, court records show.

The records show he sold more than 15 grams of a drug that tested positive for cocaine to the detectives Jan. 2, 2002, in DeKalb County, and then sold about an ounce of crack cocaine to the same detectives Jan. 4.

He’s charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, and the bond on his warrant was set at $200,000.
