DeKALB – A Panduit worker who was pinned by a piece of machinery Wednesday morning suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the DeKalb Fire Department.
The department responded after a report that a worker had been entrapped between a piece of machinery and a support beam, department officials said. Deputy Chief Jeff McMaster said the worker was operating what he called a high lift, which is like a forklift, when she was pinned between the machinery and the rack system.
McMaster said it took about 20 minutes for a dozen firefighters to remove parts of the machinery and disentangle the worker, who was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital.
He said the warehouse is filled with boxes and palettes on racks. and that the worker was conscious and alert when firefighters arrived.
A spokesperson from Panduit said he could not comment on the incident, as it is under investigation.
Panduit employs 200 DeKalb residents, according to the city's website.
