CRYSTAL LAKE – A Coventry Elementary School fourth-grade student's artwork will be featured on National Night Out T-shirts for the Crystal Lake Police Department.
R.J. Dinelli won the second annual contest held by Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 and the police department, according to a news release from the district.
All third-, fourth- and fifth-graders in the district were eligible to enter. On Wednesday, R.J. was presented with a framed copy of his artwork and a National Night Out T-shirt printed with his design, according to the release. Crystal Lake police will wear T-shirts featuring Dinelli’s design to promote the event.
National Night Out is hosted across the country to bring together police officers and the residents they serve, according to the release.
This year's event in Crystal Lake will be Aug. 1 at Three Oaks Recreation Area, 5517 Route 14. Questions about this year's event can be directed to officer Ed Pluviose at epluviose@crystallake.org.
