POLO – An 18-year-old Polo man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery at a Casey’s General Store, and charges are pending against a second person, police said.
Polo police arrested Ricky J. Rippy, 18, around 8:30 a.m. at his home in the 500 block of East Buffalo Street and charged him with armed robbery, a Class X felony carrying a sentence of 6 to 30 years in prison.
Around 4:15 a.m. May 21, Polo police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Casey’s where two masked men, one brandishing a handgun, fled after stealing an undisclosed amount of cash.
“Charges are pending against a second individual, and the incident is still under investigation,” police Chief Kurt Cavanaugh said.
Rippy is in the Ogle County Jail pending a bond hearing.
The Illinois State Police and Ogle County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.
