CRYSTAL LAKE – Renting most boats at Three Oaks Recreation Area now is slightly more expensive.

The City Council, on a 6-0 vote May 2, raised hourly rental rates by $2 for canoes, paddleboats and single and tandem kayaks.

Hourly rental for the boats for residents increased from $6 to $8. The hourly fee for nonresidents likewise increased from $10 to $12. City staff cited high demand for the boats, as well as the fees charged by other entities, as the reason behind the increases.

Rates for swan paddleboats, sailboats and paddle pontoons have not changed.
