Aunt Martha’s welcomes new women’s health specialist to Joliet clinic

JOLIET – Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness has added new medical expert, obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Alfonso del Granado, to its West Joliet Community Center located in Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center at 333 N. Madison Street.

He speaks both English and Spanish and comes to the community with more than 30 years’ experience.

In a news release, Dr. Charles Barron, chief medical officer at Aunt Martha’s, said del Granado will provide OB/GYN services, including prenatal and postnatal care to women.

del Granado received his education from the University of San Simon, Bolivia and completed his residency at the renowned University of Chicago, Chicago. He was certified through the prestigious American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He founded the laparoscopic surgical department at South Chicago Community Hospital, affiliated with the University of Chicago, in 1974.  He is a former acting-chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center, and former assistant professor at Chicago’s Rush Medical School.
