Wauconda police charge 5 in connection with cocaine sales

WAUCONDA – Six men were arrested or detained Thursday in connection with cocaine sales at a Wauconda restaurant and nightclub, according to a news release from Wauconda police.

The charges came after a six-month investigation into complaints of narcotics sales from employees and patrons of Las Adelitas, 461 W. Liberty St., Wauconda, police said. Undercover officers conducted numerous narcotics purchases in the establishment and in the parking lot, police said.

On Thursday, officers executed a search warrant at the restaurant, police said. Overall, 145 grams of cocaine and 46 grams of marijuana were seized in the investigation, police said.

Elias Aguilar, 45, Wauconda; Jose J. Navarro-Quiroz, 32, Wauconda; Miguel Guzman-Carrera, 28, Round Lake Beach; Alfonso Mora, 33, Wauconda; and Erick E. Rojas-Tafolla, 27, Round Lake Park, face multiple drug charges, police said.

Cesar Mercado, 42, Island Lake, has pending charges, police said.

Mora and Aguilar are employees at the business, and Mercado is the owner, police said.

Members of the Wauconda Police Department, Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, Lake County Gang Task Force, McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force, DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group and the Drug Enforcement Administration- Rockford assisted.
