Ex-Brunswick Zone XL on Randall Road in Algonquin to reopen as Bowlero

ALGONQUIN – After about seven months of renovations, the former Brunswick Zone XL bowling alley on Randall Road in Algonquin is reopening with a new look and a new name – Bowlero.

“It’s more than just a bowling alley, really – it’s an entertainment center for anyone,” said Julia Skobeleva, regional sales and marketing manager responsible for Bowlmor AMF’s Midwest centers.

Bowlero, 1611 S. Randall Road, will hold its grand opening Saturday. The space features 38 lanes of blacklight bowling with plush lounge seating, high-definition video walls, a revamped bar and lounge, laser tag arena and interactive arcade, Skobeleva said.

Since Bowlero acquired Brunswick Zones, it’s also renovated spaces in Naperville, Buffalo Grove and Romeoville, Skobeleva said.

Skobeleva said Bowlero renovated the former Brunswick Zone XL to make it look more modern, and the space can be used for anything from family nights to private events.

The food menu also has been updated, with options on the “Go Crazy” menu including a Party Pretzel, 5-pound Behemoth Burger and S’Mores Skillet. The sports bar will offer a lineup of beer, wine, top-shelf liquors and specialty drinks, according to a news release from Bowlero.

Algonquin senior planner Katie Parkhurst said the village is excited about the rebranding.

“It’s a great entertainment use that draws in people locally, as well as from the region, so we’re excited that they’re all refreshed and new,” Parkhurst said.

Parkhurst said the former Brunswick Zone on Algonquin Road in the village was bought about a year ago by a developer who is continuing to market the property to different users to see what will be of interest in that space.

The grand opening, set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, will feature a free round of bowling, a free game of laser tag, $5 arcade card and an appearance from the Blackhawks Ice Crew cheerleaders, Skobeleva said.

Bowlero will be open at 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, at 1 p.m. Fridays and at 11 a.m. on weekends. For information, call 847-658-2257 or visit bowlero.com.
