The village of Lake Barrington issued a proclamation earlier this month recognizing the philanthropic endeavors of the Sanfilippo family, according to a news release from the village.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Sanfilippo family was honored at the annual Sanfilippo Holiday Bowl football game, held at Canlan Sportsplex. Village Trustee Jim Thompson, read the proclamation aloud before presenting a framed copy to the Sanfilippo family.
“I was honored to represent Mayor Kevin Richardson and the Village of Lake Barrington, to present to the Sanfilippo family a proclamation in support and appreciation of their family’s mission to help children and families in need,” Thompson said in the news release.
The Sanfilippo family's philanthropic work began in 1985. Through the Sanfilippo Foundation, its mission is to educate the public about automatic music instruments, the theater organ, and other turn-of-the-century antiques, and to provide charities with a unique fund-raising opportunity. In 2015, the Sanfilippo Foundation assisted more than two dozen charities in raising more than $1.5 million.
