Elnora Hinrichs

STERLING – Elnora Hinrichs, 91, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. She was a homemaker.

Elnora was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Fulton, the daughter of David and Alice (Smith) Wierema. She married Glenn Hinrichs on April 18, 1945, in Sterling. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1985. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of West Jordan in Sterling.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Retherford of Rock Falls, Cindy (Allen) Bannick of Deer Grove, and Lanette Hinrichs of Rock Falls; nine sons, Roger Hinrichs of Milledgeville, Arlyn (Kathy) Hinrichs of Chadwick, David Hinrichs of Sterling, Dan (Tammy) Hinrichs of Sterling, Mike Hinrichs of Lanark, Mark (Kim) Hinrichs of Chadwick, Dick (Elly) Hinrichs of Chadwick, Scott Hinrichs of Morrison, and Tim Hinrichs of Polo; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jennette Wiersema; three brothers, Ed, George and Howard Wierema; one son-in-law, Joe Retherford; one daughter-in-law, Vicki Hinrichs; and one grandson, Shawn Hinrichs.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church of West Jordan in Sterling, with the Rev. Jamie Gallagher officiating. Burial will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
